Why purpose-built shared storage

EditShare describes its EFS family as “an enterprise-grade, storage platform that is optimized for media files from the ground up” (EditShare EFSv datasheet). Its parallel design is meant to “avoid the typical ‘hot spots’ associated with other, simpler NAS systems” (EditShare EFS 200 datasheet), so many editors can work on high-bitrate media at the same time without stalls.
