The city of Phoenix is the largest metropolis in the Southwest. Like most larger cities they broadcast their city council meetings live and on demand via the internet. A special challenge to their operation was allowing control of their board meetings from the City Channel 11 studios located a block away and across the street. The only practical way to connect the two facilities was existing city fiber runs between the facilities.
EAR provided management and installation, our partner SEG provided design engineering and support for the deployment. The fiber connectivity supports almost daily production including high definition video, audio and robotic camera control. The existing lighting in the main council chambers was replaced with LED fixtures resulting in a net cost savings due to decreased energy and reduced air-conditioning usage. EAR also provided continuing maintenance and support under a city contract.
